Phoenix has a number of historic neighborhoods with period significance ranging from the early 1900’s to the mid-1950’s, and architectural styles equally as diverse. Back in the day, our founding fathers began developing the Valley of the Sun around what is now Central - with numbered "streets" to the east and numbered "avenues" to the west. The majority of Phoenix historic homes are located in Central Phoenix, between I-10 on the west and State Highway 51 on the east and from Van Buren Street on the southern edge Missouri Street in the north.

According to the Phoenix Historic Preservation Commission, there are 35 historic districts currently registered, each boasting their own unique charm, characteristics and vibrancy. A variety of neighborhood –specific cultural events and attractions are held annually to showcase these wonderfully unique and special historic neighborhoods that help make central Phoenix the topic of conversation among preservationists both locally and across the country. I invite you to tour the many diverse Phoenix Historic Homes, either here on-line or together as we drive through the Palm lined streets of historic Phoenix!
